Sketching Symmetrically and Spatially Just Got Easier with New 2D Tools!

Note: The Mirror and Linear Array tools are coming in the next Part3D release and are not available yet.

We're constantly working to make your Part3D experience on the iPad even faster, smoother, and more intuitive. The next update will introduce two brilliant new tools to the 2D sketcher that will cut your design time in half for common symmetrical and repetitive features: the Mirror and Linear Array tools!

If you love designing brackets, enclosures, or any model with repeating features, you're going to love this when it lands.

🎨 Mirror Tool: Design Half, Get the Whole

The Mirror tool lets you sketch only one half of your design — the other side is automatically generated by mirroring across a chosen line. Perfect symmetry, less effort.

This feature is still in active development, but once released, it will let you mirror selected lines and arcs across a construction line, keeping both sides fully parametric and synchronized as you adjust dimensions.

  • How to Use: Draw your half-shape and a central Mirror Line (usually a construction line). Select the geometry, then select the mirror line, and you're instantly done!

📏 Linear Array Tool: Repeat Features with Precision

The Linear Array tool will allow you to create multiple copies of a feature along a line or axis — ideal for layouts like bolt holes, slots, or patterned cutouts.

You’ll simply select your feature, define a direction, set the number of copies and spacing, and Part3D will handle the rest. It’s designed to save time and ensure perfect alignment every time.

  • How to Use: Draw your initial feature (e.g., a single circle). Select the Linear Array tool, choose your feature, select a direction axis, and specify the number of instances and the spacing.

Built for Flow and Simplicity

As always, these upcoming tools are designed to feel natural with your Apple Pencil, fitting seamlessly into the sketching experience you already know. They’re not quite ready yet — but they’re coming soon!

Stay tuned for the next update, and get ready to design faster than ever.

Happy Designing,
